DBCCI Delegation met the Hon’ble Minister for Commerce, GoB on December 23, 2012


A seven-member DBCCI Delegation paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Commerce Minister Mr. G.M. Quader at the Commerce Ministry on 23 December 2012, led by its President Mr. Shahzada Hamid. The DBCCI delegation apprised the Hon’ble Minister of the prospects and problems of the trade development between Bangladesh and the Netherlands. The delegation emphasized on DBCCI activities targeted to bring more dynamism in the private sector development, infrastructure development, special economic zone development for Dutch entrepreneurs and business to business support with the goal of establishing long term, mutually beneficial business relationships between Bangladesh and the Netherlands.



The Hon’ble Minister for Commerce gave a patient hearing to the DBCCI delegation and called upon the entrepreneurs to encourage for more investment in the country. The DBCCI President said that Bangladesh offers great opportunities in the ship building component (backward linkage) and service industry. Currently, Bangladesh needs for shipbuilding for the international market. The discussion held, also focused on the development of Small and Medium Scale Industries, organization of single country fairs in both countries. The DBCCI delegation requested further government support for the country’s potential sectors like Shipbuilding, Agribusiness and ICT to expand the business between the two countries. The DBCCI President also raised the issue of full membership in FBCCI for all the bilateral Chamber of Commerce ensuring better representations  of local and foreign entrepreneurs who are eager to contribute their resources for furthering the FBCCI for flourishing the SME’s and the honorable Minister also appreciated this matter and was in the opinion of same.


Among others, Mr. AKM Alamgir, Vice President; Mr. A.S. Afser, Vice President; Mr. M. Zakir Hossain, Secretary General; Mr. Momin-Ud Doulah, Director, Mr. Khandaker  Mokarram Hossain- Former President and Mr. Khaled Hassan – Former Vice President were present on the occasion.
